  • Bowel Resection

A bowel resection is a surgical procedure that removes a diseased portion of the intestine before reattaching the two healthy ends. Oftentimes, surgical resections are followed by a colostomy, in order to give the intestine a rest before allowing the digestive process through that section to continue.

The procedure occurs in a hospital, and the patient receives general anesthesia.
