In the news today:Clinical, diagnostic, and management perspectives of aortic dissectionThis has been the first article written that has not used old procedural data. Thank-you! I'm now 3 years post Ascending aneurysm repair. I sustained a complete dissection and had all of the normal organ complications. This is the very first article that even describes tthe fenestration procedure. Kudos! However because of the high mortality rate on fenstration, it is only considered during initial onset. If the patient is more than able to survive with medical treatment or another type of surgical intervention yhat will have to suffice. The best surgeons in the USA are only approaching a 28% mortality rate, not the quoted 25%, and at any rate this is worse than th initial mortality rate for the original open heart repair.
