While I am not a doctor, I have recently experienced blood clots in my leg. The reason I found out I had blood clots was because I had alot of pain in my leg, and because that leg had been immobile for a few weeks (I broke my ankle) the doctors decided to do an ultrasound just to make sure. They immediately put me on an anticoagulant in order to get rid of the clot. I do know that sometimes doctors will put a patient on blood thinners after a surgery, especially if the surgery is going to cause them to be immobile for a little while. From my knowledge, I do not think that blood clots can just dissolve without being treated, and yes, blood clots can travel, if a part of it breaks off. You might want to see another doctor to get second opinion. You can use our Find a Doctor resource in order to locate one near you. Good luck!
